Micah Parsons fights back tears after Cowboys teammate’s serious injury

The Week 14 back-and-forth shootout between the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys was brought to a screeching halt in the fourth quarter following an injury to a promising young star for Dallas.

Second-year linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who has quite frankly been one of the few positives this season for Dallas this season, found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.

On a two-yard run by Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown, Overshown, who was fighting through blocks, got his right leg rolled up on by Bengals center center Ted Karras.

It was a scary play in the moment and an injury that Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy called “serious” when speaking to the media.

It was also a play that nearly brought star linebacker Micah Parsons to tears when he was asked about it after the game.

“Dawg I cried,” Parsons said. “That’s like my little bro, bro. He don’t deserve that either, he really don’t.

So, just understand what he’s going to go through and to be there for him physically and mentally is so challenging because he’s so talented.

The year he was having…I just really don’t think that’s fair either.”

The 24-year-old linebacker out of Texas had racked up 84 total tackles on the year while also adding five sacks before Monday’s game.

Unfortunately for Overshown, his young NFL career has been plagued by injury.

After a strong first game in the 2023 preseason, he tore his ACL in his left knee during the second preseason game. An injury that forced him to miss his entire rookie season.

As for the game itself, the Cowboys lost by a score of 27-20, thanks to a late special teams blunder. With two minutes remaining, Nick Vigil got a paw on a Cincinnati punt.

As the ball was fluttering, defensive back Amani Oruwariye attempted to field the bouncing punt only to have it hit off of him and into the hands of the Bengals.

It took Joe Burrow and the offense just three plays to score, as he found his college teammate J’Marr Chase for what was the game-winning 40-yard touchdown.

The loss certainly stings, but losing Overshown again likely hurts even worse. The Cowboys (5-8) will have a chance to bounce back on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers (3-10.)
