Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and Baltimore Ravens ground weapon Derrick Henry grabbed most of the attention in their position in 2024, but Green Bay Packers tailback Josh Jacobs surely deserves the limelight as well for his body of work in his first year with the NFC North franchise.
Jacobs, who signed with the Packers in 2024 after several seasons with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, finished sixth in the league in the last campaign with 1,329 rushing yards to go along with 15 touchdowns – second-most overall – on 301 carries.
Former Raider loves Jacobs’ outlook in second season with Green Bay Packers
The 27-year-old Jacobs, entering his second season with the Packers, got an incredible endorsement from a former NFL running back recently, with ex-Raiders tight end Marcel Reece gushing over the Green Bay star’s 2025 fantasy football and real-performance outlook.
“Personally, I wouldn’t take anyone over Josh Jacobs,” Reece told Kay Adams during an appearance on the “Up & Adams.”
Reece, who also played for the Raiders, has such confidence in Jacobs in part because of the players around the former Alabama Crimson Tide running back.
“O-line’s gonna be even better, added Reece. “Jordan Love’s gonna be top-five MVP candidate by the end of the year. Josh Jacobs is gonna be fresh. He’s gonna be healthy. They’re gonna turn around and hand him the ball.”
Moreover, Reece believes that familiarity with the Packers after a full season in Green Bay will further unlock the potential of Jacobs to wreak havoc on the field.
“When you’re a running back in the system for the first time, you’re really just going off talent, instincts, and what you know from the past, Reece continued.
“Now that he’s had a year to groom himself in that system, understand the play calling, understand his offensive line, letting them understand him better, he’s gonna have an even better year this year.
The numbers are gonna go up. He’s gonna be healthier and he’s gonna score more touchdowns. Josh is gonna have a huge year this year.”
